In 2014, we welcome to our Public Awareness Campaign our new Communications and Admin Assistant, Wendy Bortolazzo. Wendy’s initial focus will be the development of our new website and preparation of materials for the Fund’s 2014 events.
Wendy has studied rural science, rural extension and education and spent time working overseas with agri-food sector organisations in the area of communications, with a focus on the internet. This included work with the International Fertiliser Association in Paris consulting on how the internet could be used to engage their members; FAO in Rome assisting to prepare project proposals, websites and publications; and more recently with NSW DPI in the communications branch and Rural Women’s Network. Wendy has also worked with a number of agribusinesses and community organisations to establish their web presences.
The media coverage from the Fund’s Public Awareness campaign in 2013 is provided here Media list 2013 and has links to interesting stories around food security that have been covered by print, radio, TV and online media throughout last year through the Fund’s efforts.
“While there are big media generating events for food security like our annual conference and other key conferences like this week’s Australian Agricultural and Resource Economics Society Conference and later this year the 150th International Horticulture Congress that the Fund supports through media management, it’s good to look back and see that it’s been possible to get other coverage through our journalist visits and a focus on our own training and Master Classes,” said Cathy Reade, Director of Public Affairs and Communications at the Fund.
“In a year when we are taking on additional events of our own, such as the 17 February event in Brisbane and 18 March event in Sydney, to spread the message of our “Doing Well by Doing Good” Report
Wendy’s significant comms, publication design and admin experience will be a great asset.”
