December 6, 2021
The Crawford Fund Annual Conference, titled “Food & Nutrition Security – The Biosecurity, Health, Trade Nexus,” is almost upon us. We have had a tremendous response to the event on 13-14 December in Canberra and online, but we know that domestic travel restrictions associated with COVID-19 means that some of our usual attendees are remaining home.
For those who still want to get together to learn, network and be part of our usual important discussion on food and nutrition security, we have these free events in Darwin, Hobart and Perth:
The Northern Territory Crawford Fund Committee, chaired by Prof Helen Garnett and coordinated by Tania Paul, is hosting a networking event at Charles Darwin University to coincide with the Sir John Crawford Memorial Address presented by Dr Agnes Kalibata, UN Secretary General’s Special Envoy to the 2021 Food Systems Summit, on Monday 13 December from 4pm (ACST).
So, if you live in Darwin, you can catch up with your colleagues in international agricultural development and food security be inspired by one of the world’s most significant voices in African and global agriculture and development, Dr Agnes Kalibata, UN Secretary General’s Special Envoy to the 2021 Food Systems Summit and President of Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA).
You can RSVP by 5pm 9 December here.
Our Tasmanian Committees alongside the Researchers in Agricultural for International Development (RAID) Network members is hosting an all-day stream to coincide with the Tuesday conference.
If you live on the Apple Isle, join our Tasmanian Chair and Coordinator, Richard Warner and Dr Neville Mendham, from 9am at the University of Tasmania in Sandy Cape for both the online conference broadcast and an opportunity to network and discuss the topics with local colleagues. Come for as much or as little of the sessions as you can manage.
RSVP by 5pm 8 December to the Tasmanian event here.
With the time difference, our Western Australian Committee are also working with RAID to offer you the opportunity to join the event broadcast from Session 3 at 8.50am. Join Dr Mark Sweetingham and Prof Lyn Abbott for a day of lively discussion and networking at the Claremont Showground.
RSVP by 5pm 8 December to the Western Australian event here.
If you want to attend the event in-person in Canberra, or attend online from the comfort of your home or office wherever you are in the world, you can also still register here.
The full conference program, speaker profiles and all conference-related information is available here.
We look forward to joining you all, somehow, somewhere.
