Crawford Fund Annual Conference Postponed

March 23, 2020

Dear Colleagues,

We regret to inform you that the Crawford Fund annual conference, scheduled for 10-11 August, will not be held in 2020. Given the exceptional circumstances being experienced around the globe and the uncertainty about how long the impact of the COVID-19 virus will be felt, we have decided that it is likely to cause the least amount of inconvenience and risk to speakers and our loyal participants if we make this decision now.

Our organising committee has been working hard and we had hoped to launch the August event next month, with another tremendous line-up of speakers to once again bring national attention to a key food and nutrition security issue.

In fact, it is somewhat ironic that our working title for the conference this year was “Food & Nutrition Security – The Biosecurity, Health, Trade Nexus,” to explore specific risks to plant, animal and human health; how these factors are putting global food and nutrition security at risk, and the emerging technological and management solutions to overcome these risks.  The emphasis was to be on food system, including the way in which food production systems interact with human health in terms of zoonotic diseases and their spread.

Hopefully the topic will be even more pertinent next year – at this stage we are expecting to hold the conference on 22-23 March 2021.

The Organising Committee would like to extend our appreciation to the speakers who did commit to our event this year and we hope that many will recommit for the event next year.

We look forward to bringing you our annual conference in 2021.

Kind regards,

Cathy Reade
