Applications now open for QLD International Engagement Awards

The Crawford Fund Queensland Committee supports targeted training and mentoring of overseas scientists and extension officers by experienced Queensland counterparts working on similar agricultural research challenges.  

In 2025, the Queensland Committee will again be offering a small number of Crawford-in-Queensland International Engagement Awards.

“Each year these training and mentoring awards address diverse issues in industries of significance to both Queensland and neighbouring countries including Indonesia, Samoa, Thailand, Timor-Leste, Papua New Guinea and the Pacific. The committee looks forward to receiving applications over the coming months,” said Professor Bob Lawn, Coordinator of the Queensland Committee.

Applications for the 2025 awards close on 28 February 2025.

Here is a report on the international engagement award received by Dr Ido Bar from the Centre for Planetary Health and Food Security at Griffith University. Dr Bar provided training to Ms Moe Moe Kyi Win from Kasetsart University Thailand in advanced crop and pathogen genomics and bioinformatics skills as part of a project titled, Identification of novel rice resistance genes to bacterial leaf streak disease through transcriptomic analysis.
