Welcome to another ‘Quick Year in Review’ covering 1 July 2021 to 30 June 2022.
Writing their foreword to our Quick Year in Review, The Hon John Anderson, our Chair and Dr Colin Chartres, our CEO note that 2022 was special for both the Crawford Fund and ACIAR in that we had 35th and 40th anniversaries respectively. It was a time to celebrate but also to highlight the criticality of maintaining our focus on international agricultural research if we are to meet the challenges of the next 20 years – improving food and nutrition security, growing the environmental sustainability of agriculture and reducing greenhouse gas emissions from all aspects of food production.
We are continuing with our online-styled report which offers you both a quick overview or, by following links throughout the text, a deeper dive into our activities and achievements.
For another year, our usual activities were frustrated by the global pandemic, but we feel we hit our stride with alternative and online arrangements and there were increasingly hopeful signs of a return to travel and a semblance of normality.
The Quick Year in Review splits our activities through our Outreach, Capacity Building and NextGen activities and please read on for a better flavour of what’s involved. However, we can also provide a snapshot of activities through this table which indicates all activities funded through the year.
We warmly thank all those organisations and individuals who continued to support our work and were involved in our activities.
And finally, as a small non-Government organisation, we must thank our people – the Crawford Fund model relies on the significant commitment of time and effort by a large group of volunteers – to be members of our board, our State and Territory committees, and to be involved in our capacity building, outreach and NextGen activities. Along with our small team of coordinators and staff, we thank them all!
