Following Dr Cary Fowler’s Sir John Crawford Memorial Address at last year’s conference, the Fund was approached to assist with a program highlighting Cary’s work and Australian efforts around seed collecting. The 60 Minutes program is showing on Sunday 26 June. This makes for a good opportunity to have a read of Cary’s address from last year: Facing the uncomfortable challenge of food security.
The Crawford Fund is also showing additional viewings of the movie “Seeds of Time” which highlights Cary’s seed conservation work. The next showing and Q&A is in Bendigo on Tuesday 28 June at 7:30pm at the Star Cinema Eaglehawk.
The film describes the work of Carly Fowler and the Global Crop Diversity Trust in protecting crop genetic resources including the establishment of the Global Seed Vault in Svalbard inside the Arctic Circle in Norway. For those not able to make the Bendigo screening, you are able to access the movie through digital on demand. More details are on the movie website.
You can watch Cary Fowler giving his ‘Global Seed Bank Talk’ at Questacon in January here. Questacon also undertook a profile interview of Cary and this can be seen here.
