Ms Jo Grainger

Acting First Assistant Secretary, Trade and International Division, Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry

Jo has 19 years public service experience and is currently working in the Trade and International Division supporting Australia’s agriculture trade outcomes in bilateral and multilateral fora. Between January 2020 and December 2023 Jo was the Minister Counsellor Agriculture based in Brussels, Belgium leading Australia’s agriculture trade relationship with Europe. Prior to that role she worked on industry policy across wool, dairy, wine, horticulture, grains, sugar, cotton and small and emerging industries, including leading the work to establish the Dairy Code of Conduct and expanding the labour supply for the agriculture sector. Jo has also worked on telecommunications and competition policy, regulation and programs.
