Sir John Crawford was a remarkable Australian who contributed at the highest levels to the development of Australia and other countries and was a passionate supporter of international agricultural research for development.The Sir John Crawford Memorial Address has been held annually since 1985 with celebrated individuals involved in global food security issues. Most recently this has included Professor Sir John Beddington CMG FRS, UK Government Chief Scientific Adviser; Professor Stephen D Hopper FLS, Director, Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew; and The Hon Dr Florence Chenoweth, Africa Prize Winner and Minister for Agriculture in the Republic of Liberia.
